Two Months In!

Hey y’all!!

It’s officially the start of week 11! Life has been zooming by, and it’s hard to believe that we only have 4 more weeks here!

The past 4 weeks have been challenging but growing and fun! It has gotten VERY cold recently. And we now have snow! The snow is beautiful when it falls, but several days later when it is 60° again, it is a dirty, wet mess outside. Still, I love it:) One Sunday we were able to go sledding with some of our friends from the University of Montana!

Here are some photos:

Every week on Wednesday we have a Cru meeting. This involves a talk by Bob (our leader), a testimony from a student, and a game. By now everyone on the team has shared their testimony at a weekly meeting. This past Wednesday I was able to share mine! I’m usually very nervous to talk in front of people, and this time was no different. However, I enjoyed sharing more than I usually do, and after I finished I felt so much peace from God! It is so cool how God slowly changes us to be more confident in him and his ability to speak through us.

We only have one more week of Cru meetings left before the school semester is over. After this, our time will mainly be filled with Young Life and team trainings.

Yesterday, November 15, we had a girls hangout with Cru. We, the gap team girls, and our leader, Deanne, went shopping for cute items to fill gift bags for the girls night!

Below are a few pictures from us shopping and filling the bags:

Monday is usually our busiest day. We now have tutoring from 1-3 p.m. on Mondays. Three of us from the team will go to the main building in our apartment complex and tutor two girls in 1st and 2nd grade. This has been very challenging, but it has also been fun getting to hang out with the girls!

Many of our ministry outreaches have been moved to zoom, but one ministry outreach we are able to still do in person. During the week, we meet up with students to talk about Jesus and life. This is probably my favorite way to connect and share my faith with others! We are also able to connect the new people we meet up with with other Cru team leaders. Since we are not coming back here in January, it is important that we introduce them to our other Cru friends that are here for a longer time!

Recently we have had a lot of team time. This has been so wonderful and encouraging! Since my team is like my family now, it’s so great to be able to hang out, play games, and talk about Jesus with them:) We also have a weekly grocery trip, which is so fun because we get more food! Haha. And it is fun because we get to talk and figure out the best way to live life together. One of the funniest times was on a bus ride home one night. Three of us started singing and dancing and the bus driver cheered us on and asked us to entertain more. We sang the whole way home!

Here are a few pictures of us hanging out:

Here are a few things God has been teaching me:

  1. Time with Him everyday is SO important! Our schedule allows us to have the mornings with Jesus, which is a huge blessing!

  2. Esther, my roommate, and I have been reading through Judges( which has been very interesting and entertaining). One of the phrases that is repeated throughout the book is, “ Everyone did as they saw fit.” This is prevelant in today’s culture. We all want to do what we want to do, not what God desires of us. It was a great reminder to follow God, and seek his guidance in every area of our lives.

  3. The last thing is how important it is to surround ourselves with people who truly love Jesus. I have been so blessed with my team. They are always there to encourage others, and to share Jesus with everyone!

Here are some prayer requests!

  • Final weeks here would be productive and intentional. That meeting with students would result in good conversations about Jesus!

  • God would provide an overseas location for us to go to in January.

In Christ,

Dani:)
